Almos Top 5 Trip to Tenerife

National Park of el Teide

Looking on the island of Tenerife, the most attractive point would be the highest peak, El Teide at 3718 meter above the sea level. The view from the top is leaving us breathless, epecially if we manage to get there at sunrise or sunset, because of the the yellow and orange lights and the famous triangle shape shade of the vulcano, laying on the ocean for about 200 km. Even the night sky of el Teide is emblematic, because of the low light polution and 80% of the year no clouds are bothering the stargazing.

Inside the National Park of Teide would also recomend to visit the second highest peak, El Pico Viejo (3500 m) or Guajara (2800 m). Teide National Park is a paradise for those who like hiking and we can choose from 37 oficial trails, most of them are above 2000 m high.

Rural Park of Anaga

The lauriforest of Anaga is offering us totally different experience than El Teide: is all green, humid and has deep gorges or small trails leading to beaches, far from the tourists (Playa de Fajana, Playa de Antequera, Playa del Draguillo o Playa de Benijo).  The ambient is fresh and can be cold even during the hottest months of the summer. The lauriforest is famous also to have very high biodiversity and is a Special Reserve of the Biosfera.

If you never been to Anaga, is recomended to have a stop at Cruz del Carmen tourist info point, to inform yourself about the park and the trails.

The north side of the island and Teno

The north side of the island is more rural, famous for the canarian gastronomy and it is a  wine region (Victoria de Acentejo) as well. Guachinche is a local kind of restaurant, serving hes own wine and local dishes and you can find them mostly in the north side of the island. So its a great place to combine hiking in nature, visit small authentic canarian villages combined with food and wine tasting.

At Playa del Socorro starts the 0-4-0 trail, which is going up from sea level to the Peak of el Teide and coming back to the same point.

The village of Masca is also a special place, very recomended to visit. If you reserve in time you can do the Masca-beach-Masca hike, its 5 km long and it takes 3 hours to get down and 4 hours to hike up.

Trekking in the south of Tenerife

The south is the oldest part of the island and the ground in many places is made of vulcanic ashes. So naturally you can find many caves or its easy to carve the ground, to create cave houses.

The clima is more hot and dry, compared with the north, so is an ideal target for the toursits who are looking for warm wheather even during the winter.
